Rules & Regulations for the Basic Skills Program:

Our Basic Skills Program will start Sunday, October 25, 2009.  The annual Ice Show and year-end banquet will be scheduled early March 2010.  Please note there may be cancellations due to weather or hockey tournament conflicts.  You will be contacted prior to your students lesson times.

In order to have lessons run smoothly and allow parents / guardians and skaters to be less frazzled; please arrive 15 minutes prior to lesson time.  This will allow time needed for lesson preparation (i.e. asking questions, tying skates, finding that missing mitten, etc.).

US Figure Skating mandates all children 6 years old and younger MUST wear a helmet!  NO helmet, NO ice, NO EXCEPTIONS.  Please make sure your child does not eat or chew gum while on the ice.  As listed with registration, an assigned 30-minute lesson time will be followed by a 30-minute practice time for each student enrolled. Please arrive rink side at your assigned time and leave when the practice time is over.

Public Skate Assistance is Required:

If you are new to the program, join the fun of Public Skate nights.  The Salmon River Ice Hockey Association Public Skate times are worked entirely by VOLUNTEERS!  The proceeds help to improve and maintain our rink.  We need your help!  Working only one public skate will make a huge difference!

Starting October 2009 Public Skate sessions are scheduled every Friday and Saturday evening from 7:15pm to 9:30pm.

Examples of Public Skate activities include: taking admissions, working the snack bar, managing skate rentals, checking & cleaning the bathrooms, even driving the zamboni.  The Public Skate Schedule has the Skating School assignments posted on the white board in the rink lobby.  Please take time to help our rink and have fun in the process.  Your cooperation is needed and would be greatly appreciated.

We Need VOLUNTEERS!!!

The Salmon River Ice Hockey Association requires the Salmon River Skating School to have a governing system.  This will make our Skating School run more efficiently and even out workloads associated with the skating school responsibilities. Positions include: Public Skate Coordinator, Snack Bar Coordinator, Ice Time Scheduler, Zamoboni Drivers plus assistance with our Annual Show.

If you have further questions please contact Susan Schmelling at (315) 633-2617 or e-mail: figureskating@sriha.org.
